Robert Earl Keen to Headline Rockwall Founders Day May 22nd
The City of Rockwall, the “Live Music Capital of North Texas” has recently announced that legendary songwriter and performer Robert Earl Keen will be performing on the Town Square on May 22. The performance will be the headline act for the City’s Founders Day Festival, an all day free family event celebrating the City’s 156th birthday. Keen is expected to take the stage at 7:00 PM for the free concert.
Keen will perform later that evening at the Southern Junction Steakhouse and Club in Rockwall. The City worked closely with the management of the Southern Junction to arrange the Texas legend to perform for the Founders Day Festival. “The City of Rockwall is fortunate to have a great working relationship with the Southern Junction who played an instrumental role to bring Robert Earl Keen to Rockwall. Without the help of the Southern Junction, very simply, we would not be able to have such a talented songwriter and performer as our headline act” stated Brad Griggs, Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Rockwall.
The Founders Day Festival is a one day event and will feature of 120 different vendors. There will be live music performances throughout the afternoon featuring DFW area bands and a performance by Clay McClinton, son of Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter, Delbert McClinton. The morning stage activities will feature a children’s performance featuring “Critterman”. The event is held on the City’s Town Square located at the intersection of SH 205 and SH 66. There will plenty of food, entertainment and shopping to provide a full day of family activities. The Town Square Shops owners will be sponsoring “Sip and Stroll” a wine tasting experience during the late afternoon leading up to the Robert Earl Keen performance.
