Catch 22 Seafood & Market Join’s Rockwall Chamber
Catch 22 Seafood & Market cut the ribbon on September 23rd and officially became a member of the Rockwall Area Chamber of Commerce.
This restaurant is a great addition to Rockwall. I had an opportunity to eat there for lunch recently and was impressed with the menu choices and selection of fresh seafood. I started out with the Crab Cakes for an appetizer. If you like Crab Cakes then you will be in heaven at Catch 22. There was more crab meat than I have ever seen in a crab cake and the taste was to die for. The portions were so large that you could actually have them for lunch and eat nothing else. Of course I did not stop there. I ordered the Pan Seared Grouper Sandwich with hand cut fries. I am a huge fan of Grouper and I was not disappointed. Cooked perfectly this sandwich was the best I have ever had. I had the opportunity to sample the Fried Shrimp from a friends plate and they were way above ordinary. Others in my party had the Tilapia with Creamy Shrimp Sauce and concurred that it was exceptional in both taste and presentation. Rockwall has not had a true Seafood Restaurant in some time and Catch 22 is a perfect addition to the restaurant selection with a unique menu and great service. They have a standard Lunch Menu but the Dinner Menu changes based on the availability of fresh Seafood.
On of the really neat thing about Catch 22 is the Seafood Market at the restaurant. You can come pick up fresh seafood and take it home. Fresh Fish arrives on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday every week. The last time I was in they had Tuna, Redfish, Salmon, Grouper, Halibut, Catfish, Talipia, Stone Crab Claws, Oysters, Scallops, Rainbow Trout and Chilean Sea Bass ,and the selection was really fresh and looked fantastic(see image above).
The Restaurant is owned by David Franks and Heather Lewis (a long time Rockwall County resident. Their Chef is Charles Armstrong. Mr. Armstrong has been a Chef for Copelands in New Orleans and most recently a Chef for Blue Canyon at The Harbor in the City of Rockwall. These people were all present for their ribbon cutting and were friendly and happy to have Catch 22 in Rockwall.

Lori Stevens of Patriot Paws Receives the American Legion’s Woman of the Year Award
INDIANAPOLIS – Lori Stevens, Royse City, Texas, was presented the Woman of the Year award by the American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) today at its 89th Annual National Convention in Louisville, Ky.
Stevens, founder of Patriot PAWS Service Dogs, has more than 15 years’ experience working with service dogs. In February 2005, a group of disabled veterans from the Dallas VA Hospital asked Stevens to assist them with training. This is where she learned about the plight of disabled veterans in need of service dogs. As a result, in February 2006, her 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Patriot PAWS, was born.
Patriot PAWS dogs are trained to perform various services such as getting help in emergencies, retrieving items, and pulling wheelchairs with the goal of increasing self-sufficiency for the disabled veteran. Since many disabled veterans also suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder along with depression, the service dog can play a crucial role in the emotional stability of the veteran, resulting in lifelong companionship.
“When I first started Patriot PAWS, I wanted to find a practical, yet positive way to train our dogs,” said Stevens. “What happened next was a huge win for everyone involved.” Patriot PAWS entered into a partnership with the State of Texas Department of Criminal Justice to train female inmates to become service dog trainers. Inmates learn an occupation that can be used immediately as a new career path when they are released. Ultimately, inmate service dog trainers and the volunteers of Patriot PAWS will help to give back the freedoms that were lost to disabled veterans.
Stevens and her No. 1 canine partner, Beau, have appeared coast to coast and on “The Late Show” with David Letterman and Animal Planet’s “Pet Star.” Stevens is married to Daniel Stevens and has three sons: Charlie, Don, and Rick. Charlie is in the U.S. Air Force and served during the Iraq War.
Founded in 1919, the American Legion Auxiliary is the world’s largest patriotic women’s service organization. With a membership of nearly 900,000, local ALA units have a strong presence in more than 9,500 communities nationwide. The ALA’s mission to serve veterans, their families and their communities is carried out through its hundreds of outreach programs delivered by its members, volunteers and national headquarters.
