Bill Bricker States his Objectives for Rockwall City Council Place 2

Released by Bill Bricker on April 22, 2010.

Bill Bricker for Rockwall City Council Place2I will encourage, participate and enhance the efforts to renew our Downtown Rockwall area. It must be balanced with preservation and development to maintain the ambience we now enjoy and refuse to give up. I have nearly 30 years living, working, and shaping lives and land in Rockwall preparing for the work of a councilman, my opponent cannot point to this fact. He has been here a shorter time and lacks experience in these areas in my opinion.

I will continue the City’s active role in road planning and development. All great cities are ahead of the growth. We must do the same to compete. This does not mean expense necessarily, it means planning. I have demonstrated my long term vision and abilities to plan with the work done at Columbia Development where several years of building will be required to complete the master plan.

I will encourage and participate in structuring solid and rewarding public/private development that is not at the cost of the City, yet is to the benefit of all. My development and business background provide me much greater depth of experience to draw upon in accomplishing this as opposed to my opponent.

My belief is we should maintain, but not increase the City investment at the Harbor complex as it exists. This project must not fail but I feel it has been amply demonstrated that City money will not make the economics work. Private sector decisions must be made there, I believe they are ongoing. We must allow the free market to excel.

I will work to wind down and conclude any remaining issues with the Shores.

I will work for and support maintaining adequate City services while holding the line on expenses and taxes. This is a task in which my business background significantly differentiates me from my opponent in the ability to accomplish this goal.

Provide leadership, vision, and fair evaluations to all matters before the Council while listening to the constituents of the position. I have shown these qualities in business, in City duties, and various organizations around Rockwall such as the Chamber.

I believe that my experience and my deeds speak volumes as to the differences between my opponent and me. I believe I am more qualified in every way to assume the honored position of a Rockwall City Councilman and to use that position to the benefit of all citizens in the City of Rockwall.

Kevin Fowler for Rockwall County Judge, 5 Reasons Why

Kevin Fowler candidate for rockwall county judge

Press Release form www.votefowler.com. April 4th 2010

It is runoff time in the Rockwall County Judges Race. It is important that you vote for the best candidate to lead this county. Kevin Fowler is the best choice for the position and here are 5 compelling reasons why:

  1. Leadership Style. Kevin Fowler has an excellent community service record. He has spent years in various leadership positions building consensus and achieving positive results by committee. Building consensus is probably the most important attribute a County Judge needs. He must work with 4 other county commissioners and the citizens to formulate policy and make decisions that are in the best interest of the citizens of Rockwall County. Jerry Hogan has no such leadership skills. He has a military background and unfortunately his style of leadership is dictatorial in nature. Look at his promises and he states I will do this and that, without ever taking into consideration the other Commissioners vote or input. He has never stated that he will work with the commissioners. This type of leadership style is great for battle but is the worst for serving the citizens of Rockwall County. Hogan does not have a record of community service in Rockwall. He does not have a track record of working with the leaders of this community. Kevin Fowler is the clear choice for Judge from the leadership perspective as he is a Leader who can Lead Leaders.
  2. Ethics. Hogan has repeatedly questioned the ethics of Rockwall County Government. When questioned about this he mentions names of elected officials who have long been dismissed. Kevin Fowler believes that the leadership of Rockwall county is ethical and among the best in the State. Kevin has experience with all of these leaders and is looking forward to serving with the best interest of the citizens in mind. Hogan will have a hard time leading those whose ethics he questions.
  3. Roads. Kevin was the chairman for the Building Better Roads committee and led this group (including Hogan) to success when the citizens overwhelmingly voted to support the road bond. Now Hogan, after serving on this, committee is doubting the funding and whether or not this is the direction the county should take. Here is a clear mandate by the citizens and Hogan is second guessing the will of the voters. Sounds a bit like the Courthouse debacle. Kevin Fowler is fully supportive of the voters mandate and led the bond committee and the citizens to an appropriate conclusion. Kevin will not waver in his support of roads and has stated that good reads are necessary for growth management and economic development.
  4. Taxes. Hogan has stated that he will not support any tax increase. It is unrealistic to state you will not support any tax increase. Voter approved bonds result in a tax increase and are the will of the people. Hogan essentially defies this mandate from the citizens. Kevin Fowler believes in listening to the citizens and keeping an open mind and will heed their wishes when it comes to infrastructure development. Kevin also believes that you must keep an open mind when considering any issue the county faces.
  5. Budget. Kevin has been a banker all of his professional career. Budgets, forecasting, and cost containment are task he does on a daily basis. This is exactly the experience Rockwall County needs. His vision for the county and his ability to listen and work with people sets him apart. Kevin has the educational and financial background for this job. Growth will come. And, our county needs a strong leader that has the proven ability to accomplish difficult tasks by working with people. He will focus on the county’s infrastructure in a financially responsible manner by developing a master plan for the county. Kevin will work for you by improving the budgeting process and evaluate internal controls to ensure strong checks and balances. He will structure the county’s budget to support citizens goals, and to eliminate excess spending. Finally he will implement financial forecasting and cash flow scenarios. Kevin recently said “I love this community and am committed to serve you. I want this to be the place where my kids and grand kids call home. I will use my skills and experience to lead this county to the next level”.

Clearly Kevin Fowler represents all that is right and good for Rockwall County. A vote for Kevin will ensure that your wishes are represented and that Rockwall County will move forward in a positive direction. Vote for Kevin Fowler for Rockwall County Judge. It’s an easy decision and the right one to make.
