Catch 22 Seafood & Market Join’s Rockwall Chamber

catch22 fresh seafood v2Catch 22 Seafood & Market cut the ribbon on September 23rd and officially became a member of the Rockwall Area Chamber of Commerce.

This restaurant is a great addition to Rockwall. I had an opportunity to eat there for lunch recently and was impressed with the menu choices and selection of fresh seafood. I started out with the Crab Cakes for an appetizer. If you like Crab Cakes then you will be in heaven at Catch 22. There was more crab meat than I have ever seen in a crab cake and the taste was to die for. The portions were so large that you could actually have them for lunch and eat nothing else. Of course I did not stop there. I ordered the Pan Seared Grouper Sandwich with hand cut fries. I am a huge fan of Grouper and I was not disappointed. Cooked perfectly this sandwich was the best I have ever had. I had the opportunity to sample the Fried Shrimp from a friends plate and they were way above ordinary. Others in my party had the Tilapia with Creamy Shrimp Sauce and concurred that it was exceptional in both taste and presentation. Rockwall has not had a true Seafood Restaurant in some time and Catch 22 is a perfect addition to the restaurant selection with a unique menu and great service. They have a standard Lunch Menu but the Dinner Menu changes based on the availability of fresh Seafood.

On of the really neat thing about Catch 22 is the Seafood Market at the restaurant. You can come pick up fresh seafood and take it home. Fresh Fish arrives on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday every week. The last time I was in they had Tuna, Redfish, Salmon, Grouper, Halibut, Catfish, Talipia, Stone Crab Claws, Oysters, Scallops, Rainbow Trout and Chilean Sea Bass ,and the selection was really fresh and looked fantastic(see image above).

c22logoThe Restaurant is owned by David Franks and Heather Lewis (a long time Rockwall County resident. Their Chef is Charles Armstrong. Mr. Armstrong has been a Chef for Copelands in New Orleans and most recently a Chef for Blue Canyon at The Harbor in the City of Rockwall. These people were all present for their ribbon cutting and were friendly and happy to have Catch 22 in Rockwall.

Mr. Handyman of Dallas Offers quality repairs at a reasonable price

Not long ago my wife and I were in need of a handy man. We contacted the Dallas Texas handyman franchise for an estimate. Our request for service was handled very courteously by the office and we were given a firm appointment time.  Most of the handy man services I have used in the past have been someone in overalls in an old truck so I was pleasantly surprised when a professional handyman arrived in his van on time and in uniform. I showed him the leak in the ceiling ( apparently the bathtub upstairs had run over and leaked into the kitchen). He was courteous and listened to our needs and immediately gave us his estimate for the work we requested. We agreed on the price and he began to work.  I could tell as he worked that this was not your average handyman. This handy man took time to ensure that all adjacent areas were protected by placing plastic over all surfaces that might be remotely affected by spackle, dust or paint. He was precise and thorough and finished the job on time. I was very impressed with the Mr. Handyman franchise in Dallas, Texas. I highly reccomend that if you have any home repair, or handy man projects that you contact Mr Handyman in Dallas or if you are not from the Dallas area visit their website at www.mrhandyman.com.

l’Egantz is the Latest Closing at the Rockwall Harbor.

In an emotional message sent this morning, L’Egantz announced that they have closed the business at the Rockwall, Texas  Harbor complex. The message read:

“Dear Friends,
I wanted to take the time and drop each of you in our email registry a note from the bottom of my heart to say “thank you” for your business and support over the last six years.  I have always tried to regard each of you as more like a friend rather than a customer and it has been a wonderful journey with you.  For all of you who followed us from downtown on the square and remained loyal, to our newfound friends at The Harbor, I will miss you.

As of today, L’Egantz is no longer in operation and you will find our doors locked, the lights off and the laughter gone.  I like to think that my staff and I provided each of you with some fun when you visited and “brightened” your day in some way as you did ours.  My goal was to always make you feel welcome, put a smile on your face and provide you with a shopping haven like no other.  I hope I achieved that and that we will always be a fond memory to you.  I would encourage you to please support other local businesses to help keep them as an integral part of the Rockwall community in these times of uncertainty and economic distress.

Thank you again so much for your business and your friendship and may God bless you all.

Sincerely,
Lynn Davis ”

One can only speculate why this, and other businesses fail to survive at the Harbor. Is it the higher than normal rents, the lack of marketing, is it a client mix that does not subscribe to the “Well Heeled Client Philosophy” that the owners so clearly wanted for this venue, or is it a consiquence of the economy? Something must change to prevent the further erosion of retail business at the Harbor. Something must change to reverse the downward spiral. Clearly it cannot continue to do “Business as Usual” if it is to survive.
